A letter from President Bernie Faust

A letter from President Bernie Faust

As the new president of WIARA I look forward to working with our Sustaining Members, Executive Board and our Individual Members in the coming months. I have some new ideas and I am sure many if you do as well.  I look forward to implementing fresh ideas and actions.

We cannot grow unless we have new members and an active membership.

I challenge all of you to become more active and engaged with our alliance and in your communities. We have great leaders on our board and within our ranks. I want us all to work together to continue growing the capacity of the Wisconsin Alliance for Retired Americans.
We must only look at our state and our country to see the work that lies before us.

In today’s political climate, it is critical that we work together to address the many issues that affect the retirement community. As laid out at convention, our goals are measurable and direct. The groundwork starts now!

  1. Add new Individual Members.
  2. 2. Re-elect Senator Baldwin in 2018.
  3. Elect a Democrat as Governor of Wisconsin in 2018.
  4. Elect a Democrat as President in 2020.

This work will take dedication and sacrifice, but we have the power within our organization to affect change in our communities.

For most Americans, those of us not in the top 1%, incomes are on the decline. Elected officials in power today are a threat to Social security, Medicare, Pensions and other programs that affect our quality of life. Ronald Regan may have clinched the election in 1980 by asking “Are you better off today than you were four years ago.” Today, a better question would be, are you better off today than your parents were fifty years ago?

I look forward to working together in the future. I have some great new ideas and I want to hear from you, our members, about issues ideas and concerns you may have. Please contact me directly at 920-233-1629.

Solidarity,

President Bernie Faust
