South Central Federation of Labor Awards 2017 Scholarships

The South Central Federation of Labor has awarded four $1,000 scholarships bby lottery drawing to the sons and daughters of area union members. In addition, SCFL’s Dodge County Chapter has awarded two $500 scholarships. Here are the winners.

Winner #1 – Samuel Hoffman is a 2016 graduate from Memorial High School who is studying industrial engineering at UW Milwaukee. Samuel’s mother, Amy Hoffman, is employed at Wisconsin Education Association Council and is a United Staff Union member.

Winner #2 – Madeline Manor is a 2015 graduate from Sun Prairie High School who plans on studying computerl sciences at UW LaCrosse.  Madeline’s mother, Sharon Manor, is a member of OPEIU Local 39.

Winner #3 – Alexis Vernon is a 2015 graduate from Freeport High School who plans to study social work Western Illinois University. Alexis’ father, William Vernon, is employed with Madison Post Office and is a member of APWU Local 241.

Winner #4 – Grace Blocker is a 2017 graduate of Waukon High School and plans to major in business marketing/management at Iowa State University. Grace’s father, David Blocker, works for the Madison Fire Department and is a member of IAFF Local 311.

Dodge Scholarships

Dodge Winner #1: Kimberly Duckett is a 2016 graduate of Beaver Dam High School and plans to study graphic design at Madison College. Kimberly’s mother, Sherry Duckett, works at John Deere and is a member of IAM Local 873.

Dodge Winner #2: Zachariah Kassube is a 2011 graduate of Watertown High School and plans to study civil engineering at UW Platteville. Zachariah’s father, Brian Kassube, works for Dodge County Highway and is a member of AFSCME Local 1323.
